1. Elongation of cells

Cell elongation is a developmental process that is regulated by light and phytohormones and is of critical importance for plant growth. Mutants defective in their response to light and various hormones are often dwarfs. The dwarfed phenotype results because of a failure in normal cell elongation.

2. Growth of Stem

The increase in length of the shoot and the root is referred to as primary growth, and is the result of cell division in the shoot apical meristem. Secondary growth is characterized by an increase in thickness or girth of the plant, and is caused by cell division in the lateral meristem.

3. Promotion of Cell division

They are produced in growing areas, such as meristems at tip of the shoot. Zeatin is a hormone in this class, and occurs in corn (Zea ).

4. Falling of Senescent leaves

Abscisic acid is a plant hormone discovered for its role in regulating abscission(the natural detachment of parts of a plant, typically dead leaves and ripe fruit) and dormancy. Hence plant hormone is responsible for the fall of senescent leaves is Abscisic acid.
