Answer please! If a^x = a^y then x = y. So, if 1^2 = 1^3 then 2 = 3? But, 2 ≠ 3. Explain.

If a^x = a^y then x = y

THE RULE IS NOT APPLICABLE TO 1,0

AS

1^∞=1

1^ ANYTHING =1

0^ANYTHING =UN DEFINED

SO,THE RULE IS NOT  APPLICABLE TO 0,1   ,CONSIDERED TO BE EXCPTIONS

Divyankasc: if sina = sinb then a = b.. sin80 degree = sin100 degree. So, 80* = 100*?
Divyankasc: Thanks

we know that exponential function is defined if it's base is greater than zero and not equal to one...

so we can't compare any power to unity..

becoz it's is against the rule of exponential function..
