Atomic no. = no. of electrons
=10

electrons = protons -2 (since its valency is -2 )

This is because it is given that element X has a valency -2 in the question , so it has 2 more electrons than protons . Thus we will add 2 electrons to the total electrons so that the proton no. is equal to the electon no.

=> p= 8

atomic mass = p+n
=8+8
= 16
