5
 Given : \frac{5 +  \sqrt{3} }{7 - 4 \sqrt{3} }

  \frac{(5 +  \sqrt{3})(7 + 4 \sqrt{3})  }{(7 - 4 \sqrt{3} )(7 + 4 \sqrt{3} )}

 \frac{5 * 7 + 5 * 4 \sqrt{3} +  \sqrt{3} * 7 +  \sqrt{3} * 4 \sqrt{3}  }{(7)^2 - (4 \sqrt{3} )^2}

 \frac{35 + 27 \sqrt{3} + 12}{49 - 48}

 \frac{47 +  27 \sqrt{3}  }{1}

47 + 27 \sqrt{3}

Now,

a +  \sqrt{3} b = 47 + 27 \sqrt{3}

Therefore a = 47, b = 27.

Hope this helps!
