a) Seeds should be planted at a proper distance from each other because if they are very near to each other, they will compete for water, nutrients and sunlight. If they are far apart, they will take up a large area, resulting in the wastage of field space.

b) Sandy soils have a low water storage capacity and a high infiltration rate. They therefore need frequent but smallirrigation applications, in particular when the sandy soil is also shallow. Under these circumstances, sprinkler or drip irrigation are more suitable than surface irrigation.

c)Drip irrigation is water economical method because in this irrigation system water falls drop by drop on the position of roots of the plant, thereby reducing both the consumption and loss of water.
