Question :

Find the odd one out among :

(a) - Salt , Vinegar , Citric Acid , and Sodium Benzoate

Salt is here , NaCl which is neutral in nature .

Vinegar : Acetic acid , Ch3Cooh , also known as ethanoic acid .

It is acidic in nature obviously and is found in various foodstuff etc .

Citric Acid : C6H8O7, found in trace amounts in citric fruits in nature and is used for preservation of food items ; is acidic in nature .

Sodium Benzoate : An basic salt in nature , c7h5nao2 formed by the reaction of sodium hydroxide and benzoic acid .

NaOh is a strong base and c6h5cooh is a weak acid so the salt formed will be basic in nature with a ph of 7.5 approximately .

We can clearly say that Salt is the only neutral substance here.

So it is the odd one out .

( b ) Acceleration, Force , Velocity and Speed .

Here , this can be done in two ways.

(1) , Force is the odd one out as it is the product of a scalar quantity and a vetor quantity and mentions a magnitude as well as direction unlike the others .

( 2) , Speed as it is the only scalar quantity here and the rest are vector quantities .

Additional Information :

c7h5no2 = NaOh + c6h5cooh

Force = Mass × Acceleration

Acceleration = Velocity / Time

Velocity = Displacement / Time

Speed = Distance / Time
