if R=(x,y)...joining by p(a,b) and q(b,a)
.....using midpoint formula,
x1+x2/2 , y1+y2/2)=(x,y)
(a+b/2 , b+a/2)=(x,y)
a+b/2=x----(1). ,,,,,b+a/2=y----(2)
add (1)+(2)
x+y=a+b/2 + b+a/2
=a+b+b+a/2
=2a+2b/2
=2/2(a+b)
x+y=a+b
HENCE ITS PROVED
