1. Given diameter = 4.2 m and height = 4.5 m
therefore radius = 2.1 m
Curved surface area of cylinder = 2πrh = 2*22/7*2.1*4.5 = 59.4 m
2. Volume of petrol tank = πr²h = 22/7*(2.1)²*4.5 = 62.37 m³
1/12 th steel is wasted = 1/12*62.37 = 5.1975 m³
5.1975 m³ steel is wasted.
Steel used in making tank = 62.37-5.1975 = 57.1725 m³
