Step-by-step explanation:

Let the speed of the cycle be 'x'km/hr and time taken be 'y' hour.

We know that,

Distance = Speed × Time

According to question,

(x + 5) (y - 2) = xy

=> xy - 2x + 5y - 10 = xy

=> -2x + 5y = 10 .... (i)

Again,

(x - 3) (y + 2) = xy

=> xy + 2x - 3y - 6 = xy

=> 2x - 3y = 6 ....(ii)

Adding equation (i) and (ii),

-2x + 5y = 10

2x - 3y = 6

_________________

=> 5y - 3y = 16

=> 2y = 16

=> y = 8

From equation (ii)

2x - 3(8) = 6

=> 2x - 24 = 6

=> 2x = 30

=> x = 15

Speed of the cycle = x = 15km/hr

Time taken = y = 8 hours

Therefore,

The distance he has to travel to reach the destination = xy

= 15 × 8

= 120 Km....(Answer)
