(i) Which are the two main climatic factors responsible for soil erosion?

=>Rainfall:- The stream of rainwater takes away soil particles from the surface of the earth.

▶Temprature:-Changes in temperature caused by the Sun heating up a rock can cause the rock to expand and crack. This can cause pieces to break off over time and lead to erosion.

(ii)Write any two reason for land degradation today.

=>Deforestation:- Deforestation, overgrazing and mining, all are equally responsible for an increase in the rate of erosion by water. Water erosion is caused either by water in motion or by the beating action of rain drops

▶ Overuse of fertilizers:- Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides by farmers in agriculture to enhance crop yield is detrimental to environment and human health. Fertilizers and pesticides use has led to the problem of air, water and soil pollution.

(iii)Why land is considered an important resources?

=>Land is considered an important resource because it provides habitation to a wide variety of flora and fauna.It is also used by human beings for various purposes such as-agriculture, forestry, mining, building houses and roads and setting up industries.

(v) Suggest three way to conserve water:-

=> Rainwater Harvesting:- Rain water harvesting is a technique of collection and storage of rainwater into natural reservoirs or tanks, or the infiltration of surface water into subsurface aquifers (before it is lost as surface runoff). One method of rainwater harvesting is rooftop harvesting

=>Modern Method of Irrigation:- The widely used methods of irrigation are surface, sprinkling, subirrigation, intrasoil, and mist irrigation. Soil wetting and salt leaching are the principal purposes of surface irrigation.

=>Less Use Of Water:- Examples of water efficient steps includes fixing leaking taps, taking showers rather than baths, installing displacements devices inside toilet cisterns, males using urinals rather than toilet stalls, and using dishwashers and washing machines with full loads.
