The value of Set 4 is 43

Quick tip : Observation helps!

Given data :

Set 1 : A pair of shoes + A pair of shoes + A pair of shoes = 30

Set 2 : A simple boy + A simple boy + A pairs of shoes = 20

Set 3 : Pair of packets + Pair of packets + A simple boy = 13

To find :

Set 4 : Single shoe + (A simple boy + A pair of packets + A pair of shoes) x Single packet = ?

Solution :

Here, firstly, we need to find the values of

Single shoe

A simple boy

A pair of packets

A pair of shoes

Single packet

From set 1,

3 pairs of shoes = 30

So, The value of a pair of shoes = 30/3 = 10

A pair contains 2 shoes.

If 2 shoes = 10, 1 shoe = 10/2 = 5

Therefore, The value of a pair of shoes = 10 and the value of 1 shoe = 5

From set 2,

2 sets of a simple boy + a pair of shoes = 20

On substituting the value of a pair of shoes in it, we get :

2 sets of simple boy + 10 = 20

2 sets of a simple boy = 20 - 10

2 sets of a simple boy = 10

From this, one simple boy = 10/2 = 5

Therefore, The value of a simple boy = 5

From set 3,

2 pairs of packets + a simple boy =13

On substituting the value of a simple boy in it, we get :

The value of 2 pairs of packets + 5 = 13

The value of 2 pairs of packets = 13 - 5

The value of 2 pairs of packets = 8

If the value of 2 pairs of packets is 8, the value of a pair of packets = 8/2 = 4

A pair contain 2 packets whose value is 4. Value of one packet = 4/2 = 2

Therefore, the value of pair of packets = 4 and the value of 1 packet = 2

Coming to Set 4, We find :

  • 1 shoe
  • A set of ( A simple man, A pair of shoes, A pair of packets)
  • 1 packet
  • The value of set 4

= Single shoe + (A simple boy + A pair of packets + A pair of shoes) x Single packet

On substituting the values, we get

                = 5 + ( 5 + 4 + 10 ) x 2

By BODMAS rule, the order of solving is set, multiplication, sum

                = 5 + ( 19 ) x 2

                = 5 + 38

                = 43

Therefore, the value of Set 4 is 43
