if b is base and h is height and h is hypotenuse and \theta is angle between hypotenuse and base.

then,

 \frac{ {( \frac{p}{h} )}^{2} }{ \frac{b}{h} }  +  \frac{b}{h}

= (\frac{ {p}^{2} }{ {h}^{2} } +  \frac{ {b}^{2} }{  {h}^{2}} ) \frac{h}{b}

=  \frac{ {p}^{2}  +   {h}^{2} }{ {h}^{2} }   \times  \frac{h}{b}

=  \frac{ {h}^{2} }{ {h}^{2} }   \times  \frac{h}{b}

=  \frac{h}{b}   =  \sec(\theta)

hence, proved!
