put the vale of x=-k/2 in equation we get

2(-k/2)^2 +(k-6)×(-k/2) -3k

= 2×{k^2/4) + (-k^2/2) +6k/2 -3k

=k^2/2 -k^2/2 +3k -3k

= 0 so

-k/2 is the root of the equation
