hola mate here is your answer.....

as u can see the distance covered by the body with both velocities is equal i.e. X

so avg. velocity =. total distance ÷ total time

time in which velocity = V1 = X/ V1

time with velocity V2 =. X/ V2

so avg velocity =. X+X / ( X/V1 + X/V2 )

so avg velocity =. 2X / [ (XV2 + XV1 ) / V1V2 ]

so avg velocity =. 2 X / { x ( V2 + V1 ) / V1V2 }

=. 2/ { ( V2+V1 ) / V1V2}

hence avg velocity =.2 V1 V2 / V1 + v2
