According to what my classwork, if the side chain group is an acidic one ....then we must take the average pka's of both the acidic groups to find pI.
If the chain has a basic group like amine then the average of pka's of both basic groups( amines) gives u the place.
In this case there is a COOH group in the side chain. So, the average of pka's of both the acidic groups that is 2.19 + 4.25 divided by 2 = 3.22
