1.Discuss the agricultural practices that can be adopted for soil conservation?
various practices that can conserve soil are :
- Mulching - the bare ground between plants is covered with a layer of organic matter like straw. it helps to retain soil moisture
- Rock dam - rocks are piled up to slow down the flow of water this prevents the gullies and further soil loss.
- Shelter belts- in the coastal and dry regions rows of trees are planted to check the wind movement to protect soil cover.
- Afforestation- plants are grown in large quantity and their roots hold soil particles together and reduces the chances of soil erosion .

2. What are the factors responsible for the shortage of freshwater?
- Illegal conversion of water bodies like ponds, lakes, dams into commercial, residential places.
- Water pollution
- Lack of ground water recharge due to growing concrete jungles, illegal conversion of water bodies into
- Lack of awareness among citizens about rain water harvesting.
- Deforestation
- Improper water management
- Wasting water by some citizens.

3. How can we conserve land resources?
Steps required for the conservation of land resources are:
- Afforestation
- Proper management of grazing and wastelands
- Control on unrestricted mining
- Proper treatment of industrial effluents

4. Write a short note on the soils of India?
The formation of soil largely depends on the climate, the topography of the place and other such factors. India is land of different kinds of terrains, and hence a large variety of soils can be found here. Broadly, there are four kinds of soils found in the Indian Subcontinent- Alluvial soil, Red soil, Black soil, and Laterite soil.
- Alluvial soil:- this soil is made of alluvium and is generally deposited by rivers, wind and sea waves.
- Red soil:- composes of iron and metamorphic rocks and are found in the regions of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mysore and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra
- Black soil:- also known as the Regur soil is found in the Deccan lava plateau and can hold large amounts of water.
- Laterite soil:- this is clayey soil and is formed under conditions of high temperatures and heavy rainfall.

5. Discuss any four methods of soil conservation?
soil conservation is the preventing of soil loss from erosion or reduced fertility caused by over usage, acidification, salinization or other chemical soil contamination. Slash-and-burn and other unstainable methods.
Methods of Soil Conservation:-
- Terrace farming
- Buffer strip
- Crop rotation
- Forest protect

6. Explain the different methods adopted to conserve water resources
the different methods adopted to conserve water resources are :-
- we can adopt water by rain water harvesting system
- we can use water only according to our needs
- we should not waste water resources
- we can also conserve water resource by making undergrounds Tanka's , and storing water in it for future needs

7. Land is an important gift of nature. Justify this statement
"DEAR BRAINLY USER I WILL JUSTIFY YOUR QUESTION WITH TWO STATEMENTS"
- Land is important gift of nature because it is the most important thing we need to survive because on land we get water, on land we live, on land tree grows and we get oxygen, fruits, vegetables, woods , timber etc. so land is important gift of nature.
- Land is an important gift from nature this can justify by the fact that our basic needs like food , shelter and even oxygen is all due to the existence of land. Without land we can not grow crops even not a single tree that would give us oxygen. That is why it is called mother.

8. Why do you think the demand for freshwater is increasing?
- With the population increasing rapidly and the setting up of new industries every single day, the demand for fresh water is rising.
- New industries are set up every single day and require massive amounts of water in their production plants.
- The growing of water-intensive crops like sugarcane increases the requirement of water.
- Water is being increasingly polluted, making it scarce.
