Answer:

1.Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault.

2.The crust and the upper layer of the mantle together make up a zone of rigid, brittle rock called the Lithosphere . The layer below the rigid lithosphere is a zone of asphalt-like consistancy called the Asthenosphere . The asthenosphere is the part of the mantle that flows and moves the plates of the Earth.

4.Seismic waves are studied by geophysicists called seismologists. Seismic wave fields are recorded by a seismometer, hydrophone (in water), or accelerometer. The propagation velocity of seismic waves depends on density and elasticity of the medium as well as the type of wave.

3.The effects from earthquakes include ground sh

aking, surface faulting, ground failure, and less commonly, tsunamis.

5.Earthquake can be defined as the shaking of earth caused by waves moving on and below the earth's surface and causing: surface faulting, tremors vibration, liquefaction, landslides, aftershocks and/or tsunamis.

1) Earthquake are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic wave that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. When the rocks break the earthquake occurs

2) plate tectonics is the theory supported by a wide rage os evidence that considers the Earth's crust and upper mantle to be composed of several large thin, relatively rigid plates that move relative to one another

The upper most layer of the earth called Crust.

3) An earthquake is the shaking of the surface of the earth resulting from the sudden release of energy in the Earth's lithosphere that create seismic waves

The effects of earthquake are -

i) Ground Shaking

ii) Ground Ruptures

iii) Landslides

iv) Tsunami

v) Liquifaction

vi) Fire are probably the single most important secondary effect of earthquake

4) Seismic waves are the waves of energy that travels through the Earth's layer, and are the result of earthquake, volcanic eruption, magma movement, large landslides and large man-made explosions that give out low frequency acoustic energy

Seismic Waves are studied by geophysicist called seismology. Seismic Wave fields are recorded by seismometer, hydrophone or accelerometer. The propagation velocity of seismic waves depends on dencity and elasticity of the medium as well as the type of wave

5) The natural calamities caused by earthquake are - i) Surface Faulting

ii) Tremors Vibration

iii) Liquifaction

iv) Landslides

v) Aftershock or Tsunami
