1)Nagar Panchayat is a form of urban local self-government that is established in towns that are under transition, that is, they are neither urban nor rural. The functions of a Nagar Panchayat are to look after the following activities: Water supply and its maintenance. Drainage and sewer maintenance.
2)Municipal services are not limited to land development, water and sewer, urban public transport, infrastructure, waste management and fire-fighting. Municipalities deliver many other services of local and common nature. Municipalities issue licenses to and inspect all work places within municipal boundaries.
3)Its term is for a period of five years but can be dissolved by State Government(Governor) if it fails to perform it's duty properly or have abused the power given.
4)Function of Nagar Panchayat
A Nagar Panchayat or Notified Area Council (NAC) or City Council in India is a council helps in the transformation of from rural to urban. The councillors or ward members are chosen by direct election from electoral wards in the Nagar Panchayat.
5)The municipal council is the highest governing body of a municipality. Members of the council make all the major decisions affecting the municipality. This includes decisions on education, the construction of new buildings or tax levels. Municipal councils are elected every 4 years by the residents of the municipality.
