Answer:

1. The reason behind the heating effect of electric current is when the current passes through a conductor the electrons have to face the resistance of the conductor which results in the loss of energy and this loss of energy gets converted into heat energy.

2. Electromagnets are widely used as components of other electrical devices, such as motors, generators, electromechanical solenoids, relays, loudspeakers, hard disks, MRI machines, scientific instruments, and magnetic separation equipment.

Question :-

  • What is the heating effect of electric current?

Answer :-

Heating effect of electric current means that suppose current is passing through the circuit and due to some resistivity or other factor it produces heat

In simple Words, When electricity passes through a conductor or alloy it converts the electric current into heat energy. This Phenomenon is called heating effect of electric current. This is how bulb emits light because electrical energy is converted into heat energy of tungsten present in it.

Question :—

  • Write any three uses of electromagnets?

Answer :-

Three uses of Electromagnets are as follows :-

It is used for seperating iron tools from waste

They are used for running MagLev trains.

They are used in doorbells, speaker's, electric bell, etc.

Question :-

  • Explain the working of electric fuse.

Answer :-

Suppose there is an electric circuit though which the current is passing and suddenly the current becomes so high that it can't flow now, so in that case there would be a short-circuit and even higher short-circut can lead to fire and can cause loss of lifes.

So, these electric fuse work as whenever there is high temperature than the limit, it will Break out/melt at the same time and so prevents damage.

Simple defination for fuse is, It's a safety device that opens an electric circuit when is made up of an alloy of Copper(Cu), Tin (Sn) and Lead(Pb) & they have low melting point

Note :- Low Melting point wires Should be used for better results.

Question :-

  • State the characteristic of image formed by a plane mirror

Answer :-

The characteristic of image formed by a plane mirror are as follows :-

  1. Plane mirrors form Virtual Image
  2. They are formed erect
  3. They are same size as that ofobject
  4. There is the same distance
  5. They form laterally inverted image (left-right reversed)

Question :-

  • What is rectilinear propagation of light?

Answer :-

The Phenomena of travelling of light in straight line is known as Rectilinear Propagation of light.

Thus, this tells light can't bent

Question :-

  • Explain with the help of activity that seven colours of light can be combined to produced white light.

Answer :-

A simple activity known as Newton's Disc can be done by the following way :-

  • Take a circular piece of paper, cardboard or any circular thing and paint in such a way as shown in figure in the attachment
  • Then in the bottom fix something which can make it rotate
  • Then finally, rotate the disc, and when it's rotating you can see that the disc is looking white in colour

This, is how that shows all the 7 seven colours mixed to form white light.

Question :-

  • Write the differences between

(a) Heat and temperature

(b) Clinical and lab thermometer

Answer (a) :-

Heat :—

  1. It's a cause
  2. S.I Unit is Joule
  3. It depends on Mass
  4. It Causes Burns
  5. It's a form of Energy

Temperature :—

  1. It's an effect
  2. S.I unit is Kelvin
  3. It depends on Kinetic Energy
  4. It causes sweat
  5. Formed from heat

Answer (b) :-

Clinical Thermometer :—

  1. Used to measure human temperature
  2. Temperature varies from 35° C to 45° C

Laboratory Thermometer :—

  1. Used to measure temperature except human's temperature
  2. Temperature varies from -10°C to 110° C

Thanks
