Answer the following.

1) When 'P' gas is passed over black copper oxide a reddish coloured layer of 'Q' is formed.
Then answer the following:

Answer:

a) P is hydrogen and Q is copper

hydrogen is more reactive than copper so displaces copper from it's oxide, to form water (vapour) and reddish copper metal

b)H2+CuO->H2O+Cu

c)this is a displacement reaction

When hydrogen gas is passed over copper oxide, copper oxide is reduced to copper and hydrogen gets oxidized to H2O.

a) P is Hydrogen gas

Q is Copper

b) CuO+H2→ Cu+H2O

c) It is a displacement reaction.
