As aeroplanes have streamlined body to overcome the force of friction, which is due to air. Buses don't want as streamlined body as Aeroplanes
The shape of the airplane is what allows it to cut through the air to go really fast. And airplanes NEED to go fast (you cant go up if you don't travel fast enough!)
Buses, on the other hand, don't need to go fast (in fact they’re much more suited to travel slow). Thus they can design the shape of a bus to best suit passenger convenience and hence the boxy shape.
