Answer:

Methane is the simplest hydrocarbon with formula CH4

On combustion:

CH4 + O2 = CO2 + H20 ( Methane on combustion forms carbon dioxide and water)

On substitution

In substitution reaction a saturated hydrocarbon when reacts with chlorine in presence of sunlight and chlorine displaces the saturated hydrocarbon.

CH4 + CL2 = CH3CL + HCL

Addition reaction is a type of reaction in which unsaturated hydrocarbon in presence of catalyst gets converted into saturated hydrocarbon.

Methane being a saturated hydrocarbon won't undergo addition reaction.

Hope this helps!!
