Explanation: Ans 1 = The chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life.

Ans 2 =  Notochord the non-chordate phylum whose few members have the ability to fly.

Ans 3 = Aestivation is the mode of arrangement of sepals or petals in the floral bud with respect to the other members of the same whorl.

Ans 4 = As with many chemical reactions, the rate of an enzyme- reaction  increases as the temperature increases. However, at high temperatures the rate decreases again because the enzyme becomes denatured and can no longer function.  As the temperature increases so does the rate of enzyme activity.

Ans 5 = 0S ribosomes are found in prokaryotic cells and the chloroplast. 70S ribosomes are smaller in size that comprises two units. These are the large unit and small units. The large unit is the 50S and the small unit is 30S.

Ans 6 = The technique used for the separation of a mixture of a liquid and a gas is boiling.

Ans 7 = The Sino-atrial (SA) node is a Specialized bundle of neurons located in the upper part of the right atrium of the heart.  Since the SA node initiates and maintains the rhythmicity of the heart, it is known as the natural pacemaker of the human body.

Ans 8 = Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin.

Ans 9 =  A Nissl body, also known as Nissl substance and Nissl material, is a large granular body found in neurons. These granules are of rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) with rosettes of free ribosomes, and are the site of protein synthesis.

Ans 10 = Progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum in the ovary; its function is to prepare the endometrium (lining of the uterus) for the reception and development of the  ovum.
