Mendeleev had to leave certain blank spaces in his periodic table because he predicted that those places, were for elements that were still undiscovered. Also he predicted the properties of those undiscovered elements through his concept of periodicity.

Hope this helps.

Answer:

Mendellev had to leave certain blank spaces between the period table because During that time not all the elements were known . Since he had cracked the way in which the elements had to be arranged in the table so he left spaces in order for the future elements to be accomodated.
