Answer :

X = 1, Y = 4, Z = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that,

X Y Z + X Y Z + X Y Z = Y Y Y

3 X Y Z = Y Y Y

X Y Z = Y Y Y / 3

Now, since X, Y and Z are whole numbers, Y Y Y can attain the following possible values :

  • 0 0 0
  • 1 1 1
  • 2 2 2
  • 3 3 3
  • 4 4 4
  • 5 5 5
  • 6 6 6
  • 7 7 7
  • 8 8 8
  • 9 9 9

Since we have to find the values of X, Y and Z divide all these terms by 3 to get the possible value of X Y Z.

On dividing above possible values, we get the following new numbers,

  • 0 0 0
  • 0 3 7
  • 0 7 4
  • 1 1 1
  • 1 4 8
  • 1 8 5
  • 2 2 2
  • 2 5 9
  • 2 9 6
  • 3 3 3

Here according to the question, the pair X Y Z is such that when it is multiplied by 3 we get the result as Y Y Y i.e. the number in the middle of the pair X Y Z is repeated 3 times when the pair is multiplied by 3.

The only such possible pair which can be formed is 1 4 8 which on multiplied by 3 gives the result as 4 4 4 thus the middle value of the pair X Y Z is repeated 3 times when the whole value is multiplied by 3.

Therefore our required answer is,

  • X = 1
  • Y = 4
  • Z = 8

Hence solved !!!
