Godfrey Cass was different from his younger brother, Dunstan in the following ways:

  • Godfrey Cass, the eldest son of Squire Cass, was a moral coward.  Prone to being misled and easily fooled , he lacked resolution.
  • Dunstan on the other hand was a cunning and cruel fellow.
  • Where Godfrey was a curious mixture of strength and weakness, Dunstan was completely evil.
  • While Godfrey was sober & respectable, Dunstan was completely dishonest, idler, blackmailer, sly, and cunning.
  • Dunstan was described more negatively than Godfrey. His overall character was described as ‘spiteful’ and ‘jeering.’
  • Godfrey was described as someone who is indecisive and could not make up his mind. On contrary to this Dunstan was reckless who always looked for his personal gain, blackmailed his brother, and squandered money.
