Explanation:

2.Himalayan ranges are group of young fold mountains.They are highest ranges in the world.In India they extend from Indus in the west to Bramhaputra goerde in east and width varies from 240 to 320kms. They cover about 5 lakh km^2 in India.

Himalayan ranges are divided into 3 parallel ranges:

1.The greater Himalayas:also known as Himadri.There hieght is of 6100mtrs.

2.The lesser Himalayas:also known as Himachal.They are 60 to 8km wide and 1500 to 4500mts high.

3.The siwalicks :also known as foothills or outer Himalayas.They are 600 to 1500mts high and width varying from 15-150kms.They have flat bottom longitudinal structured valleys known as 'Doons.

5.The great Northen plains are formed by the depositional work of three river system which flows from the Himalayan glaciers, namely the Sutluj, the Ganga and the Bramhaputra. Thetefore it contains rich fertiled alluvium soil, as it is very suitable for agriculture and vegetation it attract the people and also have vegetation.Hence, it is very densely populated.
