Answer the following questions:-

1. Give two examples of contact force.

2. Name the force due to which every object falls on earth.

3. Write the types of non-contact force. Also define them.

4. What are the effects of force on an object?

5. How can we change the speed and the direction of a moving body?

6. What do you mean by pressure? What is the SI unit of pressure?

7. Why it is easier to walk on soft sand if we have flat shoes rather than shoes with sharp heels (or

pencil heels)?

8. What is meant by atmospheric pressure?

1. kicking a ball

Pushing a car

2. gravitational force

3.The three types of non-contact forces are gravitational force, magnetic force, electrostatic and nuclear force.

magnetic force :- The force exerted between a magnet and a moving, electrically charged particle.

electrostatics force :- the force that exists between electrically charged particles or objects at rest.

Nuclear force :- force that acts between the protons and neutrons of atoms.

4. A force acting on an object causes the object to change its shape or size, to start moving, to stop moving, to accelerate or decelerate.

5. We can change the speed and the direction of a moving body by applying force.

6. Pressure is the amount of force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area and the for it is p (or P). The SI unit for pressure is the pascal (Pa)

7. A flat shoe increases the area of contact with the ground . Hence , the pressure ( force / area) on the ground is much less in case of a flat shoe as compared to a pencil heeled shoe and walking is easier.

8. It is the force exerted on a surface by the air above it as gravity pulls it to Earth
