1) How can we separate diseased seeds from the healthy ones?

We can separate diseased seeds from healthy ones by submerging all of them in a beaker of water. The diseased seeds will float on top of the water while the healthy seeds will settle at the bottom of the beaker.

The reason is that diseased seeds are hollow and hence float on water while healthy seeds being heavy will settle at the bottom of the beaker.

2) What are crumbs?

Crumbs are large pieces of soil present as lumps. They need to be broken down with the help of wooden planks for the proper sowing and growth of crops. Breaking down of crumbs in a part of soil preparation.

3) How is winnowing done?

Winnowing is done with the residue of threshing - that is the grains and their husk along with some parts of the stalks. All these components are collected in a pan and are made to fall from a certain height while the wind is blowing. The husk and other particles being lighter flows away with wind and gets collected some distance away while the grains fall down directly below. Hence winnowing helps us to separate the grains from the husk.
