  • The two fibres that we get from plants are:- i)Cotton fibre is obtained from the cotton plant. ii)Linen fabric is obtained from the flax plant.
  • The Two natural fibres: i)Jute is a natural fibre that has been used in the textile industry since centuries. ii)Silk, again, is a natural fibre used in the textile industry since ages.
  • The two synthetic fibres: Polyster and Nylon

The advantages of synthetic fibres:

  1. Synthetic fibers are more durable than most natural fibers and will readily pick-up different dyes.
  2. In addition, many synthetic fibers offer consumer-friendly functions such as stretching, waterproofing and stain resistance.

The disadvantages of synthetic fibres.

  1. The mono-fibers do not trap air pockets like cotton and provide poor insulation.
  2. Synthetic fibers burn more rapidly than natural.
  3. Prone to heat damage.
  4. Melt relatively easily.
