1) The definition of a standard of living is how well or how poorly a person or group of people live in terms of having their needs and wants met. An example of a high standard of living is a wealthy person who can buy anything he wants.

2) Prevention can help to reduce health inequalities. For this to happen, prevention needs to be at least as effective in groups of the population with the worst health. Cost-effective health improvement: Preventing people taking up smoking (primary prevention) avoids smoking-related illness.
