1. Bio-reserve or biosphere reserve is a term given by UNESCO which stands for places where typical species of flora and fauna exist. Examples are Sunderbans in West Bengal and Nilgiris in Tamilnadu. Protection is also granted to the local people to preserve their ethnic identity.
2. Tropical Evergreen Forests are found in the regions receiving more than 200 cm of rainfall while Tropical Deciduous Forests are found in the region having rainfall in the range of 70 cm – 200 cm. The trees of the deciduous forests shed their leaves for about six to eight months during the dry season.
3. Since 1981 the rate of population growth is gradually decreasing because of family planning programme. This program was designed to increase the awareness about the benefits of smaller family size. As people got more and more educated birth rates declined rapidly.
4. The major components of population growth are Birth Rate, Death Rate and Migration. Birth rate is the number of live births per thousand persons in a year. It is a major component of growth. Death rate is the number of deaths per thousand persons in a year.
5. The age structure of a population refers to the number of people in different age groups in that population. Death rate is the number of deaths per thousand persons in a year. Birth rate is the number of live births per thousand persons in a year.
