2. Given that Frequency of radiation = 4 *10^14 Hz = 4 *10^14 s^-1

We know that required formula is:

Wave length = Speed / Frequency

Wave number = 1/Wavelength

Therefore Wave number = - Frequency /

speed

Speed of light is 3 * 10^8 m/s

Wave number = 4 *10^14 / 3 * 10^8 = 1.33*

10^6 m^-1

Answer is 1.33 * 10^6 metre inverse

3. Answer:lambda=6000A

Frequency(f)=velocity(c)/lamba

F=speed of light/lambda

F=3x10^8/6000x10^-10

=0.5x 10^15 hz

F=5 x 10^14 hz

Energy=hf

h=Planck constant

=6.63x10^-34x5x10^-14

E=3.315x10^-47J

4. Let energy of radiation with wavelength 6000 A be E' and energy of radiation with wavelength 2000 A be E"

We have, Energy = hc / lamda

E' / E" = 2000 / 6000

= 1 / 3

E' : E" = 1:3
