a) a thickness or quantity of something that is on something else or between other things

b) Layers are used in digital image editing to separate different elements of an image. A layer can be compared to a transparency on which imaging effects or images are applied and placed over or under an image. Today they are an integral feature of image editor.

c). If some of the scanned photos do not look colourful enough, we can easily improve their tonal range with the “Auto” button in the Levels tool.

d) Step 1: Click on Image-> Scale Image Step 2: Set the required width and height and click on scale.

e) The Flip tool generally provides ability for flipping the layers or selections either vertically or horizontally. By the rotating tools, one can rotate the geometry at any angle. In case of flip tool, text is not rotate automatically. But in case of rotating tool, text is automatically rotated with image.

Answer. In GIMP terminology, each individual transparency is called a Layer. Layers are the transparent sheets one on top of the other. You can see through transparent areas of a layer to the layers below.

Answer. Layers allows us to work with one element of an image without disturbing the others. Layer provides a variety of effects that change the appearance of the image.

C.) Abhay scanned a few photos but some of the scanned photos did not look colourful enough. How can he improve their tonal range?

Answer.If some of the scanned photos do not look colourful enough, we can easily improve their tonal range with the “Auto” button in the Levels tool (Colours→Levels).

D.) What steps should Shikha perform to enlarge the image of the Medical prescription of her Aunt which she has opened in GIMP?
