In the Rig Vedic society comprises of four varnas which was based on the occupation of individuals. But in the later Vedic period, the society became differentiated on the basis of Varna (Varna came to be birth based rather than profession based). The proliferance of profession gave rise to Jatis.
In Epic Age, from 1000 B.C to 600 B.C, the land by ruled by great rulers across the world. From 900 B.C, the kingdoms became Dynasty as the land by ruled by the kings generation. The world was mostly capture by Alexander - The Great at that time. The rulers ruled the common people, most of the rulers were brutal. They wanted to extend their territory and so have huge armies of infantry, cavalry, etc. Some of the rulers were spiritual, they spread their Dhamma and also built roads.
