(a) because they radiate energy, stars are very bright objects . planets do not generate their own energy through nuclear reactions. They reflect some of the radiation coming from their parents star.

(b) the collection of eight planets and their moons in orbit around the sun,together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroid, meteoroids, and comets.
