"On the evening of Easter Sunday the civil councillor, Navagin, came back his home after completing his daily task , on coming home he picked up the sheet of paper on which the visitors had written his name . he took the paper and went into the hall, sat down on the couch and started reading it.
While reading the list, he again saw the name of Fedyukov and he was astonished to see his name. Fedyukov was a mysterious man whom Navagin could not figure out. Every year he could find Fedyukov’s signature in the list."
