Given :

  • The ratio of number of boys and gïrls in a class is 4 : 3.
  • The total strength of that class is 35.

To find :

  • the number of boys and gïrls.

Solution :

⇒ Let's find the number of gïrls and boys.

  • Let the number of boys be 4x and the number of gïrls be 3x.

\sf \longrightarrow 4x + 3x = 35

\sf \longrightarrow 7x = 35

\sf \longrightarrow x = \dfrac{35}{7}

\sf \longrightarrow x = \cancel{ \dfrac{35}{7} }

\sf \longrightarrow x = 5

\sf \therefore x  = 5

\sf \longmapsto Number \: of \: Boys = 4x

\sf  = 4 \times 5

\sf  = 20

\sf \longmapsto Number \: of \: Girls = 3x

\sf  = 3 \times 5

\sf  = 15

  • Therefore, the number of boys is 20 and the number of gïrls is 15.
