a) the Postmaster doesn't want that lencho's faith in God should break. He in fact feels proud that Lencho has such a great faith in god. He signs the letter again to keep lencho's faith in. If he doesn't do so Lencho might think differently. his faith in God might shake.

b) Mr keesing asked her to write an essay on the topic a' Chatterbox' as punishment. In the essay she accepted the drawbacks of being talkative but argued that it was her genes as her mother was also very talkative. It was difficult to give up the habit and it was also a students trait even Mr Keesing laughed at her argument she had given.
