(a) Wanda Petronski was a poor Polish girl. She was different from other girls in many ways, her name was uncommon and she had no friends. She wore the same pale unironed blue dress everyday.

(b) Nelson Mandela was pained that he could not convey his gratitude to those people who suffered and sacrificed for freedom. They were no more alive to receive Mandela's thanks. He was more pained that these people could not see the results of their great sacrifices.

(c)  Yes, the veterinary surgeon was a tactful person as he showed concern for Tricki's health. He sounded firm and strong. He attacked Mrs. Pumphery emotionally through his continuous warnings. Ultimately, he cured the dog without any treatment.

(d) Jaffers was a constable, who was secretly sent to catch hold of the strange scientist. Jaffers was surprised to find that he had to arrest a headless man. Still he followed the orders of the magistrate and tried to catch hold of Griffin who was becoming invisible. He was knocked unconscious by invisible Griffin.
