(a) Lencho needed money and wrote a letter to God to send him the same. The postmaster read that letter and being a kind man he sent him seventy pesos in the name of God. When Lencho found thirty pesos less, he wrote a second letter to God to send him the remaining amount but not through the mail as he felt that the employees of the post-office were a bunch of crooks.
(b) Maddie was reminded of Wanda's blue dress after looking at her house because the house and the sparse little yard looked shabby but it was clean like Wanda's blue dress. The dress Wanda wore was always clean but not ironed, simple and humble.
(c) Mrs. Pumphrey used to send lots of things like eggs, wine, brandy etc., for Tricki. But nothing was given to Tricki. All the things were consumed by the doctor and the other members of the hospital. Hence, Mr. Harriot was tempted to keep Tricky as his permanent guest.
 (d) While Horace Danby was inside the house, the lady in red came and announced that she was the owner of the house. Her appearance was such that he was fooled. She asked him to open the safe for her. Horace left his finger prints all over there. Hence, he was arrested.
