The stages in the evolution of the earth are as follows:
Stage I
- Planetesimals' accretion happened in this stage and due to which the earth originated.
- At that time earth was a barren, rocky and hot object with a thin atmosphere of hydrogen and helium.
Stage II
- This stage marked the development of the Lithosphere.
- Heavier metals like iron and nickel sank towards the center of the earth and the lighter ones moved towards the surface.
- From the surface of the earth to the central part, layers like crust, mantel, and core were formed.
Stage III
- In this stage, the atmosphere and the hydrosphere evolved.
- There was a loss of primordial atmosphere as a result of stripping off by solar winds.
- The composition of the atmosphere was modified by the living world through a process called photosynthesis.
- The continuous volcanic eruptions contributed water vapor and gases to the atmosphere and when the earth cooled, the water vapor in the form of rainwater came down after getting condensed.
