A boy walks to his school with a constant speed of 4 km/h and reaches there in
The distance between two stations is 216 km. A bus takes 4 hours to cover this
distance. Calculate the average speed of the bus in km/hour.
Two Cars, A and B, (starting, at the same time, from the same point) are moving
with average speeds of 40 km/h and 50 km/h, respectively, in the same direction.

Answer:
Formula for constant speed is v=d/t, d=distance, t= time
For the first part of the journey the time taken is:
t = 36/54=2/3 hrs
His total journey should last 1 hours 30 minutes= 3/2 hours
Therefore after the first part of the journey, its time left is
t= (3/2) - (2/3)= 5/6 hours
The remaining distance to travel is
d = 72 – 36 = 36km
The bus should then travel at a speed of
v= 36 / (5/6) =43.2 km/hour
