1. The two capitals of magadha- patliputra and rajgirha had a great strategic location which made magadha a great power.
2. The Magadha had a rich iron resources which equipped its rulers with powerful weapons, not available to their enemies.
3. The use of iron made agriculture tools increased the surplus production which helped rulers to finance the wars.
4. Lastly Magadhan rulers like Ajatshatru and Bimbisara were very ambitious and powerful as compared to their contemporaries.
