Answer:

A.1) The renaming of cities in India started in 1947 following the end of the British imperial period. The most notable recent exceptions are Indian English spelling-changes of Orissa to Odisha (March 2011) and the Union Territory of Pondicherry (which includes the City of Pondicherry) to Puducherry.

A.2) Primary sources may include diaries, letters, interviews, oral histories, photographs, newspaper articles, government documents, poems, novels, plays and music. Books written by the court scribes and other records. Legends and folklore. Archaeological findings.

A.3) The historians face several difficulties in using manuscripts. There was no printing press in those days so scribes copied manuscripts by hand. Manuscript copying is not an easy job. As scribes copied manuscripts, they also introduced small changes—a word here, a sentence there.

A.4) The various changes which took place included the worship of new deities, the construction of temples by royalty and the growing importance of Brahmanas, the priests, as dominant groups in society. One of major changes which took place in the field of religion was the emergence of the bhakti movement.

A.5) 1) Fragmentation of kingdoms

2) Before the Delhi sultanate India was divided in small Kingdoms like Pratiharas Chauhan.
