Answer:
a) Tides are periodic rise and fall of large masses of water. They are caused by the gravitational interaction that exists between the Earth and the Moon. On the other hand, waves are caused by the winds blowing on the surface of the ocean or even lakes. ... Tides are formed depending on the behavior of the moon and the sun.
b) Flood plains, levees, distributaries and deltas are the various landforms formed by a river in the plain. ... Flood plain is a flat land adjacent to a river that experiences flooding periodically. After the flood the river leaves behind a fresh layer of top soil which is very fertile.
c) Governments can play a decisive role in accelerating progress toward parity through legislation, fiscal measures, programmatic change, and public–private partnerships. Consider just three examples:
In Singapore, the women’s labor-force-participation rate doubled from 28 percent in 1970 to 58 percent in 2016, reflecting a range of policies helping women to achieve work-life balance, including paid maternity leave, paid and unpaid childcare leave, increased tax relief, tax rebates, and childcare subsidies.
In Japan, which offers the most generous paid paternity leave in the world, very few men took advantage, because they felt it was unacceptable. Yet after former labor minister Yasuhisa Shiozaki declared himself an “Ikuboss”—someone who values “Ikumen,” or men playing their part in caring for children—participation in the labor-ministry program has risen from under 14 percent to over 40 percent.1
In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named the country’s first gender-balanced cabinet in 2015, which created significant momentum toward gender parity. According to the UN Global Compact Network in Canada, the fifth SDG was “the single most acted-on SDG in Canada in 2017.”
d) The chief minister is elected through a majority in the state legislative assembly. This is procedurally established by the vote of confidence in the legislative assembly, as suggested by the governor of the state who is the appointing authority.
e) In olden days towns , besides being small , had to be self sustaining because of the following reasons : -
There were very few roads , and not very suitable for safe and fast movement .
The mode of transport was mostly bullock cart or the like , which was very slow .
And , of course , the population was very limited and the human needs were very also limited .
Education was limited to very few and it was of gurukul type , located in jungles .
Present day towns need not be self sustaining because most of the reasons that forced them to be self sustaining in the past are no more there .
The towns have become very big which can not be self sustaining in themselves . Different towns are now interdependent .
Production and consumption centers need not be at the same place . they can be hundreds or even thousands of kilometers apart, due to fast modes of transport , with good road , rail and air connectivity .
Education is now not limited to producing only priests and the like but has become multi faceted catering to varied needs .
Human needs have greatly changed and so manufacturing has diversified to cater to those needs .
With the immense improvement in the availability of food and other personal needs the population has greatly increased giving rise to big towns and cities which has resulted in shortage of land for housing etc. This has given rise to multi storeyed buildings .
The list on both sides can be long but basically the above can explain the differences and the reasons for the same .
