ANSWERS:--

1. Euclid was from Greece, Europe.

2. a = 4 and b = 6

a - b = 4 - 6 = -2

b - a = 6 - 4 = 2

Hence, (a - b, b - a).

3. Probability of an event lie between 0 and 1.

Given,

(a). To which country did Euclid belong?

(b). If \[a = 4\] and \[b = 6\] then‚ in which quadrant does the point \[\left( {a - b,b - a} \right)\] lie?

(c). What is the probability of any event?

Solution,

(a) Know that Euclid also known as Euclid of Alexandria is the founder of geometry and is from Greek and was active during the reign of Ptolemy I.

(b) Know that a quadrant is an area enclosed by the x and y axis.

Here, \[a = 4\] and \[b = 6\]

Therefore,

\[\begin{array}{l} \Rightarrow \left( {a - b,b - a} \right)\\ \Rightarrow \left( {\left( {4 - 6} \right),\left( {6 - 4} \right)} \right)\\ \Rightarrow \left( { - 2,2} \right)\end{array}\]

Hence, the point lies in the II quadrant.

(c) Understand that the probability of any event is the numerical value of happening of that particular event.

The maximum value of any event is \[1\] i.e. the event is surely going to happen.

Similarly, the minimum value of any event is \[0\] i.e. the event is surely not going to happen.
