7. The shrinkage of the cytoplasm of Rheo leaf-peel cells occurred when the salt solution is added. This is because the salt solution is hypertonic (has more concentration) as compared to the peel cells. So, water moved out from the cells to the salt solution and as a result, the cytoplasm shrank.
