A substance which burns in air and tends to produce heat and light is known as Combustible substances. Non-combustible substances are certain substances which are not combustible in the presence of air. Will not burn on being exposed to flame. Examples – Diesel, petrol, kerosene

Rapid combustion: The combustion in which the gas burns rapidly and produces heat and light is called rapid combustion. 2. Spontaneous combustion: The combustion in which no external heat is given is known as spontaneous combustion. For example: Burning of white phosphorus in air.

Complete combustion takes place in the presence of a sufficient amount of oxygen while an incomplete combustion reaction takes place when there is an insufficient amount of oxygen supply.
