KNO3 = KNO2 + O2

You know that the coefficient for KNO3 must equal the coefficient for KNO2. The product of the coefficient for KNO3 and the subscript for O, which is 3, must be even. So knowing the above, 2KNO3 = 2KNO2 + O2 is the answer. To check: 2x3=6O on left and 2x2=4 + 1x2=2 4+2=6O on right.
